Every warrior ability in WotLK 3.3.5a, in the order you actually learn them. Use this as a checklist when you ding — visit your trainer, learn anything new, set hotkeys.
All abilities below are taught by warrior trainers in capital cities. Your trainer is in Orgrimmar (Valley of Honor) for Tauren — Sergra Darkthorn, Hanashi, etc. Druids visit Thunder Bluff trainers; warriors don’t have a Thunder Bluff option.
Stances
You have three stances. You learn one per level milestone, and most abilities are gated to a specific stance.
| Level | Stance | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Battle Stance | +5% damage, +10% crit damage, +1 rage/sec out of combat. Default leveling stance. |
| 10 | Defensive Stance | -10% damage taken, +10% threat, -10% damage dealt. Tank stance. |
| 30 | Berserker Stance | +10% physical damage taken, +3% crit, +10% melee/ranged crit chance. Fury DPS stance. |
Stance-locked abilities:
- Battle: Charge, Overpower, Retaliation, Mocking Blow, Thunder Clap (and most generic stuff)
- Defensive: Shield Block, Shield Slam, Revenge, Disarm, Taunt, Spell Reflection, Last Stand, Shield Wall, Devastate, Concussion Blow, Shockwave
- Berserker: Whirlwind, Berserker Rage, Intercept, Recklessness, Pummel
Glyph of Stances does not exist in 3.3.5a. You can’t reduce stance-swap rage cost beyond the base 5 lost rage (Tactical Mastery talent in Arms tree reduces this — most builds dump 5/5 in Tactical Mastery).
Base abilities by level
Level 1–10 (Battle Stance only)
| Level | Ability | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Battle Shout | 1-min party buff | +AP. Refresh every ~2 minutes. Always on. |
| 1 | Heroic Strike | Next-melee replacer | Rage dump. Doesn’t cost a GCD. |
| 1 | Strike (auto-attack) | Passive | Just turn it on. |
| 4 | Charge | Battle stance, OOC | Stuns target 1.5s, generates 15 rage. Open every pull. |
| 4 | Rend | DoT | Bleed. Decent leveling filler. Not used at 80. |
| 6 | Thunder Clap | Battle (later all) | AoE damage + slow. Mandatory for tanking AoE. |
| 8 | Hamstring | Battle/Berserker | -50% movement. Snare. |
| 10 | Defensive Stance | Stance | Unlocks tank stance. |
| 10 | Sunder Armor | Defensive | Tank threat + armor reduction. Devastate replaces this later. |
| 10 | Bloodrage | All stances | Free 10 rage instantly + over time. Pre-pull staple. |
Level 11–20 (more tools)
| Level | Ability | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 12 | Taunt | Defensive only. Forces the target to attack you for 3 seconds. Always have hotkeyed. |
| 14 | Demoralizing Shout | -AP debuff on enemies in 10yd. Mitigation tool — keep it up on bosses. |
| 14 | Revenge | Defensive. Strong threat ability that requires a parry/block/dodge to be available. Free threat. |
| 14 | Shield Bash | Battle/Defensive. Interrupt + silence (target school). 12-second CD. |
| 16 | Shield Block | Defensive only. +75% block chance, +100% block value, 10 sec / 30 sec CD (talented to 60s/+10% block). Use on every pull as tank. |
| 18 | Cleave | Next-melee replacer. AoE rage dump (2 targets, 3 with glyph). Use instead of Heroic Strike during AoE pulls. |
| 18 | Disarm | Defensive. Disarms target’s weapon for 10s. Useful on caster-with-staff or hard-hitting melee bosses. |
| 18 | Mocking Blow | Battle. Forces target to attack you for 6 sec. Long-range backup taunt for Defensive’s Taunt cooldown. |
| 20 | Slam | Any stance. 1.5s cast, big damage. Arms filler ability. Not used by Prot. |
Level 21–30 (Berserker stance unlock, real tanking)
| Level | Ability | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 22 | Challenging Shout | Defensive. AoE taunt (10 yd, 6 sec). 10-min cooldown. Emergency button when adds break loose. |
| 24 | Heroic Throw | Defensive (taught at 50, actually — see correction below). |
| 24 | Recklessness | Berserker. +20% crit, 12s / 5min CD. Open with this on bosses for DPS. |
| 28 | Shield Wall | Defensive. -60% damage taken, 12s. The big tank cooldown. Glyph drops effect to -40% but cuts CD to 2 min — usually worth it for 5-mans. |
| 30 | Berserker Stance | Stance. Unlocks Berserker abilities. |
| 30 | Intercept | Berserker, in combat. Charge equivalent for combat — gap-closer. Generates rage from a stun. |
| 30 | Retaliation | Battle. 12s of auto-counterattacks on melee hits. 30 min CD — once-per-dungeon button. Decent solo tool. |
Level 31–50 (talented abilities show up)
By level 30 you’ve unlocked 21-point talents in your tree. The big three:
| Talent | Tree | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mortal Strike | Arms (21pt) | 4s CD, primary Arms ability. -25% healing taken on target. |
| Bloodthirst | Fury (21pt) | 4s CD, primary Fury ability. Heals you for 1% of max HP. |
| Shield Slam | Prot (21pt) | 6s CD, the highest threat-per-rage ability. Dispels one magic effect. Mandatory for any tank. |
| Level | Ability | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 32 | Berserker Rage | Berserker. Removes fear/sap/incapacitate, immune for 10s. Press on Bronjahm, Ingvar, Loken, etc. | |
| 36 | Whirlwind | Berserker. AoE in 8yd. Fury core ability. 8s CD with glyph. | |
| 38 | Pummel | Berserker. Interrupt — silence school for 4s. Lower CD than Shield Bash, doesn’t require shield. Fury/Arms interrupt. | |
| 42 | Execute | Battle/Berserker. Sub-20% finisher. Massive damage. | |
| 50 | Heroic Throw | All stances. Ranged threat ability. Pull tool at 30yd. Useful for grabbing skipped mobs. | |
| 50 | Intervene | Battle. Run to ally, take next physical hit for them. Breaks stuns/snares on you. Save the healer tool. | |
| 50 | Spell Reflection | Defensive. Reflects next spell for 5s, 10s CD. Massive vs. Magisters’ Terrace, Ahn’kahet, HoR Phantom Mages. | |
| 60 | Commanding Shout | All stances. +HP party buff, replaces Battle Shout for tanks. |
Level 60+ (51-point capstones)
At level 60 you unlock your 51-point talent — the spec-defining capstone:
| Talent | Tree | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bladestorm | Arms (51pt) | 6 sec channeled AoE, immune to most disables. Best Arms button. 1.5 min CD (1.15 with glyph). |
| Shockwave | Prot (51pt) | Cone stun + damage. 4s stun, 20s CD. Tank’s interrupt + control button. Threat is decent too. |
| Titan’s Grip | Fury (51pt) | Passive — wield 2H weapons in both hands. Single biggest Fury power spike. |
Level 65–80 (talents fill out)
After level 60, you’re gaining 1 talent point per level — filling out off-tree synergies and key talents rather than learning new spells. The big 3.0+ talented abilities:
| Talent | Tree | Available | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Devastate | Prot (Tier 5, 4-pt) | ~level 30 | Replaces Sunder Armor as your filler. Hits for damage AND applies a stack. |
| Concussion Blow | Prot (Tier 7, 1-pt) | ~level 40 | 5s stun, 30s CD. Bonus interrupt. |
| Vigilance | Prot (Tier 8, 1-pt) | ~level 45 | Buff on a friendly target — they transfer 10% threat to you, and your taunt CD is reset when they’re hit. Cast once at start of dungeon. |
| Sweeping Strikes | Arms (Tier 4, 1-pt) | ~level 25 | 10s of cleaves on every melee swing. Massive AoE for Arms. |
| Sudden Death | Arms (Tier 8, 3-pt) | ~level 45 | Procs free Execute when you land melee. Core Arms damage. |
| Heroic Fury | Arms or Fury | mid-tier | Removes immobilize + resets Intercept CD. Mobility tool. |
