Outland 5-mans. They’re tighter, faster, and lean harder on interrupts and crowd control than vanilla — TBC is when blizzard introduced the “you must CC or wipe” pull design. Warrior interrupt budget (Pummel + Shield Bash + War Stomp + Concussion Blow + Shockwave once you have it) is enough to handle most TBC pulls without external CC.

Heroic versions of every TBC dungeon exist. They require Honored or Revered with the relevant faction (Cenarion Expedition, Lower City, Sha’tar, Keepers of Time, Thrallmar/Honor Hold, Sporeggar, etc.) before you can buy a heroic key. RDF will queue you to normals; you must manually walk into heroic with the key.

Hellfire Citadel

Hellfire Ramparts (Ramps)

  • Level range: 58–65 — Hellfire Peninsula. The first dungeon you’ll do as a 58 fresh into Outland.
  • Bosses: Watchkeeper Gargolmar, Omor the Unscarred, Vazruden the Herald + Nazan.

Gentle ramp into Outland. Mostly tank-and-spank.

  • Tank: Gargolmar has two healer adds before him — pull and CC/kill them first. Omor uses a Shadow Whip that pulls one player to him; tank repositions to grab. Nazan flies in during Vazruden — switch when he lands.
  • DPS: Don’t stand in fire on Nazan’s bombing run. Bladestorm during pulls is excellent, lots of trash packs of 4-5.
  • Loot: Royal Cloak of the Sunstriders (caster), Felfury Legplates (BoE world drop, plate leg). The Sunbreaker (Vazruden — Arms 2H sword).

The Blood Furnace (BF)

  • Level range: 59–65.
  • Bosses: The Maker, Broggok, Keli’dan the Breaker.

Mind-control mechanics make this notable.

  • Tank: The Maker mind-controls a party member periodically — break with stun/Concussion Blow on the MC’d player. Broggok has an add-wave intro: 4 cells of orcs open one by one — tank at the door, AoE clean. Keli’dan channels a wipe nuke at low HP — interrupt with War Stomp / Pummel or use the channelers around him to stack Bladestorm immunity.
  • DPS: Broggok’s poison clouds — stay max melee or move out. Save big cooldowns for Keli’dan to interrupt the channel via burst damage.
  • Loot: The Maker’s Essence (caster trinket), Cleaver of the Unforgiving (Keli’dan — 2H axe), Sun-Touched Chain Leggings (mail, skip).

The Shattered Halls (Shatt H)

  • Level range: 67–72. Hardest of the Hellfire trio.
  • Bosses: Grand Warlock Nethekurse, Blood Guard Porung (heroic only), Warbringer O’mrogg, Warchief Kargath Bladefist.

This is the heroic gauntlet that scared people off in TBC original — the Executioner Event is a timer (kill all adds before they execute prisoners).

  • Tank: Nethekurse’s Shadow Cleave hits hard — Shield Block uptime. O’mrogg has two heads that argue (random aggro shifts) — keep both DPS aware. Kargath spawns Shattered Hand Reaver adds and does Blade Dance (random target, fast hits) — Shield Wall through it.
  • DPS: Executioner gauntlet — Bladestorm absolutely shines. Sweeping Strikes during the orc waves before Kargath.
  • Loot: Helm of the Stalwart Defender (Kargath — top-tier warrior tank helm), The Sleeper (2H mace, Arms-viable), Bloodfist (1H mace from Kargath — Fury weapon). Heroic drops higher item-level versions.

Coilfang Reservoir

The Slave Pens (SP)

  • Level range: 60–66 — Zangarmarsh.
  • Bosses: Mennu the Betrayer, Rokmar the Crackler, Quagmirran.

Easy first Zangarmarsh dungeon. Cenarion Expedition rep.

  • Tank: Mennu summons totems — Cleave/Thunder Clap to kill them quick (especially the Healing Stream). Rokmar has a poison spit — face him away from the group. Quagmirran has acid that pools on the ground; reposition.
  • DPS: Skull totems first on Mennu. Steady AoE on Quagmirran’s adds.
  • Loot: Cudgel of Consecration (Mennu — caster mace), Twinblade of the Phoenix (rare BoE 1H sword from trash), Manimal’s Cinch (mail, skip).

The Underbog (UB)

  • Level range: 61–67.
  • Bosses: Hungarfen, Ghaz’an, Swamplord Musel’ek + Claw, The Black Stalker.

Mushroom theme. Several tank-heavy bosses.

  • Tank: Hungarfen periodically grows in size; spawn waves of mushrooms — kite if necessary. Musel’ek + Bear (Claw) is two-tank style; you’ll grab the bear, party kills Musel’ek. Black Stalker levitates random players up; not much you can do about it. Position close to the center.
  • DPS: AoE the mushrooms. Save Recklessness for the Bear — it has a lot of HP.
  • Loot: Ironstrider of Urgency (rare BoE leg armor, plate), Mark of the Swarm (caster trinket).

The Steamvault (SV)

  • Level range: 66–72.
  • Bosses: Hydromancer Thespia, Mekgineer Steamrigger, Warlord Kalithresh.

Lower City + Cenarion Expedition rep, plus the Karazhan attunement ends here on the original questline.

  • Tank: Thespia has a water elemental add (Coilfang Elemental) — pick it up, focus boss. She also enrages at low HP. Steamrigger spawns repair gnomes; must die or he heals. AoE them. Kalithresh uses tubes to massively buff himself — break the tubes with quick DPS swaps (3 tubes around the room).
  • DPS: AoE Steamrigger’s repair gnomes the moment they spawn. On Kalithresh, switch to tubes the moment he runs to one — any DPS time spent on his channel is wasted.
  • Loot: Earthwarden (Hydromancer — 2H mace, amazing for a feral druid; tank/Arms can use), The Steamcudgel (1H mace, Arms-viable).

Auchindoun

Mana-Tombs (MT)

  • Level range: 62–68 — Terokkar Forest.
  • Bosses: Pandemonius, Tavarok, Nexus-Prince Shaffar, plus Yor (heroic only).

Sha’tar + Consortium rep. Tighter pulls of casters.

  • Tank: Pandemonius is immune to physical periodically (Void Shield) — stop attacking, move on. Shaffar summons Ethereum Apprentices that channel a heal — AoE/cleave them down fast.
  • DPS: Skull the apprentices on Shaffar pulls. Don’t burn cooldowns during Pandemonius’s Void Shield.
  • Loot: Stillwater Boots (mail, skip), Talon of Vornskr (caster). Mostly transmog at this level.

Auchenai Crypts (AC)

  • Level range: 63–69.
  • Bosses: Shirrak the Dead Watcher, Exarch Maladaar.

Lower City rep. Notable for the D’sparil event as a rare alternative.

  • Tank: Shirrak casts a debuff (Focus Fire) that increases your cast time — for warriors this barely matters. He also summons mini-watchers that latch onto party members; pull them off via taunt or quick burst. Maladaar uses Soul Scream (silence) and summons a Doppelganger of a random player who copies their abilities; tank picks it up.
  • DPS: Don’t let Shirrak’s adds chase the healer — peel via Intervene or Cleave them off.
  • Loot: Scarab of Displacement (caster trinket), Greaves of Shackled Souls (Maladaar — plate, decent for fresh 70 tank).

Sethekk Halls (SH)

  • Level range: 65–71.
  • Bosses: Darkweaver Syth, Talon King Ikiss. Heroic adds Anzu via the Raven Lord mount event (druid-only summon item, but mount drops to anyone in the group).

Lower City rep. Also where you eventually come to farm Anzu for the Raven Lord mount post-70.

  • Tank: Syth summons 4 elementals (fire/frost/arcane/shadow) at 75% HP — they hit hard, AoE down. Ikiss does Arcane Explosion that wipes if not interrupted/LoS’d — when he says his line, run behind a pillar. Polymorph too — Berserker Rage breaks any incidental fear.
  • DPS: On Ikiss, when he stops moving and starts casting, break LoS immediately. Bladestorm immune to the cast effects but you still need to be in range.
  • Loot: Talon King’s Coronet (Ikiss — caster), Cloak of the Inciter (Syth — caster). Anzu drops the Raven Lord mount in heroic.

Shadow Labyrinth (Shadow Lab / SL)

  • Level range: 68–72. Hardest Auchindoun.
  • Bosses: Ambassador Hellmaw, Blackheart the Inciter, Grandmaster Vorpil, Murmur.

Lower City rep. Murmur is specifically a tank check — biggest hitter at the level.

  • Tank: Hellmaw fears periodically — Berserker Rage / racial War Stomp resets. Blackheart mind-controls the entire party (yes, including the tank); save Shield Wall for when he releases you, you’ll come back to a frenzied healer/DPS. Vorpil teleports the whole party to him — keep them grouped, AoE the void travelers. Murmur does Sonic Boom (massive raid-wide damage), Murmur’s Touch (debuff that explodes — debuffed player runs out), and Resonance (chain damage, spread out).
  • DPS: On Murmur, 3 mechanics simultaneously: spread for Resonance, run out for Touch, group up to LoS Sonic Boom against a pillar. Bladestorm covers all three because it’s mobile damage immune to most effects.
  • Loot: Mallet of the Tides (Murmur — Arms 1H mace), Cataclysm Cloak (Murmur — caster), Shoulderpads of Assassination (rogue/Fury).

Caverns of Time

Old Hillsbrad Foothills (OHF / Durnholde)

  • Level range: 66–71.
  • Bosses: Lieutenant Drake, Captain Skarloc, Epoch Hunter (escort Thrall).

Keepers of Time rep. Long escort phases — you protect young Thrall through a series of fights.

  • Tank: Phase 1 — Thrall’s barn breakout, fight wave-by-wave. Phase 2 — Thrall rides ahead, fight Skarloc as Thrall arrives. Phase 3 — wagon section to Tarren Mill, defend Thrall; Epoch Hunter spawns at the end.
  • DPS: Sweeping Strikes / Bladestorm on the wagon section is gold. Don’t pull more than one camp at a time — Thrall’s HP is the timer.
  • Loot: Edge of the Tuskarr (Skarloc — 2H axe), Thrall’s Resolve (caster trinket reward via quest).

The Black Morass (BM / Dark Portal)

  • Level range: 68–72.
  • Bosses: Chrono Lord Deja, Temporus, Aeonus, plus 18 portal waves of trash.

Keepers of Time rep. Defend Medivh as he opens the Dark Portal through 18 escalating waves of demons + 3 mini-bosses at fixed points.

  • Tank: Set up at the fountain near Medivh. Each portal spawns adds that run at Medivh; you need to grab them fast or his HP burns. Bosses appear at portals 6, 12, and 18 — Deja, Temporus (does Hasten raid-wide haste debuff = healer dies), and Aeonus (does Sand Breath, frontal fire AoE). Always face Aeonus away from the group.
  • DPS: Bladestorm on portal waves is the move. Save it for the bigger packs. Burst on bosses when they spawn.
  • Loot: Continuum Blade (Aeonus — 2H sword), Hourglass of the Unraveller (rare trinket from Temporus, caster).

Tempest Keep

The Botanica (Bot)

  • Level range: 67–72 — Netherstorm.
  • Bosses: Commander Sarannis, High Botanist Freywinn, Thorngrin the Tender, Laj, Warp Splinter.

Sha’tar rep. Long, dense pulls.

  • Tank: Freywinn turns into a tree that periodically heals himself + roots — DPS through, save big CDs for the rooted phase. Thorngrin enrages periodically. Warp Splinter spawns 6 little adds (Warp Splinterlings) at intervals — tank grabs, AoE.
  • DPS: Cleave/Whirlwind heaven on Warp Splinter. On Freywinn, focus boss; tree adds die fast in cleave.
  • Loot: Mooncleaver (Sarannis — 2H axe), Brooch of Heightened Potential (caster trinket), Earthsoul Britches (mail, skip).

The Mechanar (Mech)

  • Level range: 68–72.
  • Bosses: Gyro-Kill, Mechano-Lord Capacitus, Sepethrea, Pathaleon the Calculator.

Sha’tar rep. Mechano-Lord Capacitus drops the head for an attunement-era quest.

  • Tank: Capacitus fires off Polarity Shift that flips group polarity — if you don’t reposition, you take a wipe. Watch your buff icon. Sepethrea has fire elementals (Sun-Forged Warriors) that immune to fire — adds AoE. Pathaleon clones a random player and spawns void adds.
  • DPS: Polarity Shift means stack with same-polarity players. Save bursts for after polarity sorts. Bladestorm during Pathaleon’s add phase.
  • Loot: Manual of the Planes (Pathaleon — caster trinket), Cudgel of Consecration (caster mace), Belt of the Forgotten Conqueror (token).

The Arcatraz (Arc)

  • Level range: 69–72. Hardest Tempest Keep dungeon by reputation.
  • Bosses: Zereketh the Unbound, Dalliah the Doomsayer, Wrath-Scryer Soccothrates, Harbinger Skyriss + Warden Mellichar event.

Sha’tar rep, gates the Karazhan attunement in TBC original. The Warden Mellichar event is 5 cell-summons of mini-bosses, then the final.

  • Tank: Dalliah does Whirlwind (move out — she stops casting if you do). Soccothrates does Knockback (charges you, position back-to-wall). Mellichar event = adds galore — Bladestorm/AoE. Skyriss clones himself (one real, one fake); cleave both safely until the real one is identified by health drop.
  • DPS: Move out of Dalliah’s Whirlwind. On Skyriss, if you cleave both clones equally you’ll find the real one passively. Bladestorm Mellichar’s pre-fight adds.
  • Loot: Light’s Justice (Skyriss — 1H mace, holy paladin BiS), Soccothrates’ Belt (mail, skip), Telric’s Tutorial (caster offhand).

Magisters’ Terrace (MgT)

  • Level range: 68–72 (designed for 70 Heroic). Sunwell-era 5-man, 3.0 patch.
  • Bosses: Selin Fireheart, Vexallus, Priestess Delrissa + 4 random adds, Kael’thas Sunstrider.

Shattered Sun Offensive rep. Drops the Phoenix Hatchling pet from Kael’thas, plus best pre-raid gear of TBC for 70 twinks.

  • Tank: Selin drains crystals to refill mana — interrupt his channel or break the crystals first. Vexallus spawns lightning adds; pure AoE. Delrissa is a PvP-style 5-target encounter — she has 4 random class adds (priest/rogue/druid/etc.). Mark a kill order, focus the healer (priest/druid) first. Kael’thas has 3 phases — Pyroblast (interrupt!), Gravity Lapse (you fly up randomly, dodge orbs while in air), Phoenix Phase (kill phoenix add).
  • DPS: Pyroblast on Kael MUST be interrupted — it kills the tank. Bladestorm immune during Gravity Lapse on the ground. Phoenix add must die before it explodes (timer).
  • Loot: Hammer of Judgement (Kael’thas — 1H, BiS-tier holy/Arms tank weapon for the bracket), Phoenix Hatchling (vanity pet), Cosmic Lifeband (caster ring), Vengeance of the Illidari (trinket).
