Every Classic 5-man, in roughly the order you’ll encounter them via RDF. For each: where it is, the bosses worth thinking about, what to watch as a tank, what to prioritize as DPS, and the warrior loot worth rolling on.

“Loot” entries below highlight items that are still best-in-slot for the bracket (twink-relevant) or notably warrior-favorable for leveling. The dungeon drops dozens of other things — these are the ones you should specifically remember.

Ragefire Chasm (RFC)

  • Level range: 13–18 — Horde-flavored, located inside Orgrimmar.
  • Bosses: Taragaman the Hungerer, Jergosh the Invoker, Bazzalan, Oggleflint.

Dirt simple. Pull, AoE, kill. Casters (Searing Blade Cultists) need to be interrupted or LoS-pulled.

  • Tank: Charge → Thunder Clap → Cleave. War Stomp the caster pack for an easy interrupt.
  • DPS: Whirlwind / Cleave / Sweeping Strikes if you have it. Don’t pull off the tank with Bladestorm out of the gate.
  • Loot: Tablet of Ryun’eh offhand for casters (skip), Subterranean Cape (warrior leveling cloak from Taragaman).

Wailing Caverns (WC)

  • Level range: 15–25 — The Barrens.

  • Bosses: Lady Anacondra, Lord Cobrahn, Lord Pythas, Lord Serpentis, Verdan the Everliving, Mutanus, Skum.

  • Quirks: Long, mazey, lots of patrols. Cobrahn drops a great low-level druid staff (let druids have it).

  • Tank: Patrols matter — pull rooms cleanly and check for roaming Druids of the Fang. Many casters (sleep, lightning) — interrupt or LoS.

  • DPS: Skull/focus the casters first. Mutanus stuns the whole party (Thundercrack), so blow cooldowns early.

  • Loot: Glowing Lizardscale Cloak (Mutanus), Twisted Chanter’s Staff (Cobrahn — DPS off-spec), Worn Turtle Shell Shield (Verdan — leveling tank shield).

The Deadmines (VC)

  • Level range: 17–26 — Westfall (Alliance home dungeon, available to Horde via RDF).
  • Bosses: Rhahk’Zor, Sneed’s Shredder, Gilnid, Mr. Smite, Captain Greenskin, Edwin VanCleef, Cookie.

Iconic dungeon. Long but linear once you’re on the boat. The tricky part is the Mr. Smite fight: he switches weapons twice (1H sword/shield → dual wield → big 2H stun hammer), each transition stuns the party for ~2 sec.

  • Tank: Pre-position before each Smite phase change so you aren’t stunned out of LoS of the healer. Save Shield Block for the hammer phase.
  • DPS: Don’t tunnel during Smite’s stun — he’ll hit hard on resume. VanCleef adds spawn at 75/50/25%; tank picks them up, you AoE.
  • Loot: Cruel Barb (VanCleef — top-tier 2H sword for leveling), Cookie’s Tenderizer (Cookie — fun warrior 1H), Smite’s Mighty Hammer (Smite — slow 2H, viable Arms weapon).

Shadowfang Keep (SFK)

  • Level range: 16–26 — Silverpine Forest.
  • Bosses: Rethilgore, Razorclaw, Baron Silverlaine, Commander Springvale, Odo, Fenrus, Wolf Master Nandos, Archmage Arugal.

Worgen-and-undead theme. Several fear-heavy mobs (Tortured Prisoners, Razorclaw the Butcher).

  • Tank: Berserker Rage breaks fears — keep it on a hotkey for SFK runs. Springvale buffs himself with Holy Aegis and adds; Cleave through.
  • DPS: Arugal teleports random party members up onto the balcony — nothing you can do, just survive and rejoin. Free Bladestorm on the void walker phase.
  • Loot: Assassin’s Blade (Springvale — great rogue/Arms 1H), Robes of Arugal (caster leg, skip), Meteor Shard (decent Arms 2H).

Blackfathom Deeps (BFD)

  • Level range: 20–30 — Ashenvale.
  • Bosses: Ghamoo-Ra, Lady Sarevess, Gelihast, Lorgus Jett, Twilight Lord Kelris, Old Serra’kis, Aku’mai.

Underwater-ish. Lots of murlocs and naga. The fire braziers must be lit in order before Aku’mai.

  • Tank: Sarevess summons murloc adds — Thunder Clap them down. Kelris fears periodically; have Berserker Rage ready.
  • DPS: Don’t overshoot Old Serra’kis in his pool — his frenzy hits hard at low level. AoE the Lorgus Jett summons.
  • Loot: Glowing Brightwood Staff (Aku’mai — caster), Naga Battle Gloves (Sarevess — leveling plate gloves), Strike of the Hydra (Aku’mai — 2H sword).

The Stockades (Stocks)

  • Level range: 22–30 — Stormwind (Alliance home, Horde via RDF).
  • Bosses: Targorr, Kam Deepfury, Hamhock, Bazil Thredd, Dextren Ward (and Bruegal/Lord Overheat on extended boss list).

Tiny dungeon. Linear with two side rooms. Quick run.

  • Tank: Rotate through the two cell blocks left → right. Watch for patrolling Defias casters — interrupt their Smite/Healing.
  • DPS: Just open and AoE. Single biggest thing: Hamhock enrages at low HP — pop Recklessness, finish him.
  • Loot: Iron Knuckles (Hamhock — gold/transmog), Lord’s Cloak (Bazil — leveling cloak).

Gnomeregan (Gnomer)

  • Level range: 24–34 — Dun Morogh.
  • Bosses: Grubbis, Viscous Fallout, Dark Iron Ambassador, Electrocutioner 6000, Crowd Pummeler 9-60, Mekgineer Thermaplugg.

Long, confusing, lots of shock-trooper / mechanical packs that hit each other for 50% damage if you let them suicide. Bring or summon a warlock, infinite curse-of-elements food.

  • Tank: The Crowd Pummeler picks up a ranged-pulled mob and stomps the entire group — let DPS interrupt. Electrocutioner does AoE shock; LoS pulls help.
  • DPS: Skull priority on Searing Totems in the Workshop — they tick down healer mana fast. Whirlwind heaven on the lab packs.
  • Loot: Electrocutioner Lagnut (engineer-only, skip), Manual Crowd Pummeler (Crowd Pummeler — the leveling weapon for Arms/Fury, charge-based +50% attack speed, viable past level 60).

Razorfen Kraul (RFK)

  • Level range: 25–35 — Southern Barrens.
  • Bosses: Roogug, Aggem Thorncurse, Death Speaker Jargba, Overlord Ramtusk, Agathelos the Raging, Charlga Razorflank.

Outdoor-ish quilboar maze. Long, with a few side bosses. Mostly tank-and-spank.

  • Tank: Big patrols up the ramp. Aggem’s totems must die (Healing Stream, Strength of Earth) — Cleave through. Charlga has some Shadowy adds you’ll want to snare with Thunder Clap.
  • DPS: Keep up Sweeping Strikes / Whirlwind for the dense quilboar packs.
  • Loot: Swinetusk Shank (Ramtusk — dagger, skip), Tusken Helm (Ramtusk — leveling plate helm).

Scarlet Monastery: Graveyard (SM GY)

  • Level range: 26–36 — Tirisfal Glades.
  • Bosses: Interrogator Vishas, Bloodmage Thalnos, Headless Horseman (Hallow’s End event only), Ironspine, Azshir, Fallen Champion.

The smallest SM wing. Vishas is the only boss with mechanics — channels a torture beam that ticks bigger over time.

  • Tank: Vishas — keep 5 sunders, taunt/use stuns to break the channel if low. Thalnos summons skeletons; AoE down.
  • DPS: Bladestorm the rare event spawns (Ironspine etc.) for fast clears.
  • Loot: Mostly transmog at this point. Bone Slicing Hatchet (Fallen Champion — 1H axe).

Scarlet Monastery: Library (SM Lib)

  • Level range: 29–39.
  • Bosses: Houndmaster Loksey, Arcanist Doan, plus elite books.

Tight wing with priority interrupt targets — the Scarlet Wizards drop fireballs.

  • Tank: Doan’s Detonation wipes parties at this level. Interrupt with Pummel / War Stomp. If it fires anyway, run/break LoS.
  • DPS: Skull the casters, focus the dogs near Loksey.
  • Loot: Robe of Doan (caster), Hypnotic Blade (Doan — Arms-viable 1H), Illusionary Rod (caster).

Scarlet Monastery: Armory (SM Arm)

  • Level range: 32–42.
  • Bosses: Herod the Champion.

One real boss. Herod hits like a truck at this level, especially his Whirlwind.

  • Tank: Pre-Charge with Bloodrage for max rage. Open Shield Block, Last Stand if you took a bad hit. Step out of his Whirlwind — he doesn’t move during it.
  • DPS: Stay at max melee to dodge Whirlwind, or run to ranged briefly. He spawns Scarlet Trainees at 50% — tank grabs, AoE.
  • Loot: Herod’s Shoulder (BiS plate shoulders for the bracket — roll high), Ravager (BiS 2H polearm for the bracket, also drops from trash; iconic).

Scarlet Monastery: Cathedral (SM Cath)

  • Level range: 35–45.
  • Bosses: High Inquisitor Whitemane, Scarlet Commander Mograine.

Two-phase finale. Mograine dies, Whitemane resurrects him with Deep Sleep that AoE-incapacitates the party.

  • Tank: Burn Mograine first while DPS focuses Whitemane to ~50% but holds. When she sleeps the group, she rezzes Mograine — be ready to grab him again. Tank Whitemane through the sleep with Shield Wall if needed.
  • DPS: Stop hard on Whitemane around 50% pre-rez. Bladestorm clears the sleep on you (immunity during channel).
  • Loot: Mograine’s Might (BiS 2H sword for the bracket), Whitemane’s Chapeau (caster), Scarlet Leggings (plate leg, leveling).

Razorfen Downs (RFD)

  • Level range: 37–46 — Southern Barrens.
  • Bosses: Tuten’kash, Mordresh Fire Eye, Glutton, Amnennar the Coldbringer.

Undead quilboar. Several casters who hit hard with shadow/fire — interrupt or LoS.

  • Tank: Glutton enrages periodically (red buff = +damage); Shield Wall / Last Stand if low. Amnennar spawns frost adds — stay back-to-wall and AoE.
  • DPS: Mordresh’s Fire Nova is undodgeable — burst him. Bladestorm during Amnennar’s add phase.
  • Loot: Mordresh’s Lifeless Skull (caster offhand), Stoneflower Staff (Tuten’kash — Arms-viable 2H staff at this level).

Uldaman (Ulda)

  • Level range: 39–49 — Badlands.
  • Bosses: Revelosh, the Lost Dwarves, Ironaya, Obsidian Sentinel, Ancient Stone Keeper, Galgann Firehammer, Grimlok, Archaedas.

Long and dense with troggs. Archaedas is the gimmick fight — multiple stone watcher adds awaken in waves, only the active watcher takes damage.

  • Tank: On Archaedas, the boss is immune until adds are up. Tank only the active watcher (he activates them in order). DON’T pull aggro on Archaedas himself — he one-shots non-tanks.
  • DPS: Exact opposite — hit only the active watcher. Don’t preemptively cleave Archaedas.
  • Loot: The Rockpounder (BoE 2H mace from trash — strong Arms weapon), Stoneslayer (Galgann — 2H sword), Hammer of the Northern Wind (Archaedas — slow 1H, freezing proc, BiS twink dagger… I mean mace).

Maraudon (Mara)

  • Level range: 41–54 — Desolace. Three connected wings (Purple, Orange, Inner / Princess).
  • Bosses: Noxxion, Razorlash, Lord Vyletongue, Meshlok the Harvester, Celebras the Cursed, Landslide, Tinkerer Gizlock, Rotgrip, Princess Theradras.

Long. Bring water. Lots of poison and entangle effects.

  • Tank: Noxxion splits into adds at low HP — be ready for sudden AoE threat. Princess Theradras has a knockback into the lava trench around her arena — face her away from the trench.
  • DPS: Bladestorm immune to the entangling roots and most snares — great panic button on poisonous/snaring packs.
  • Loot: Cloak of the Cosmos (caster), Gemshard Heart (caster trinket), Dazzling Longsword (Princess — 1H sword, decent for Arms). Princess also drops Elemental Rockridge Leggings — solid plate.

Zul’Farrak (ZF)

  • Level range: 44–54 — Tanaris.
  • Bosses: Antu’sul, Theka the Martyr, Witch Doctor Zum’rah, Nekrum and Sezz’ziz, Sandfury Executioners, Gahz’rilla, Hydromancer Velratha, Chief Ukorz Sandscalp.

Outdoor desert troll dungeon with the famous Pyramid Event — wave after wave of trolls run up the stairs while you defend.

  • Tank: Pyramid event is a tank check. Position at the top of the stairs, Charge → Thunder Clap → Cleave each wave. Save Shield Wall for the wave that brings the executioners. Have water/food handy between waves.
  • DPS: Bladestorm or Whirlwind shines here — easy pulls of 6+ trolls. Sandscalp’s adds hit harder than he does; pick a target and stick with it.
  • Loot: Sang’thraze the Deflector (Sandfury Executioner — chain weapon farm, paired with Jang’thraze for Sul’thraze the Lasher, a top-tier Arms 2H sword for the level 54 bracket), The Hand of Antu’sul (warrior 1H mace).

Sunken Temple (ST / Atal’Hakkar)

  • Level range: 50–60 — Swamp of Sorrows. Long, mazey, multi-floor.
  • Bosses: Atal’alarion, the Six Trolls, Jammal’an the Prophet & Ogom, Morphaz/Hazzas (and the rest of the dragonkin), Shade of Eranikus.

Reputation for being confusing. The Six Statue Event (atop the central pillar) opens the lower temple — light statues in the right order or eat a wipe.

  • Tank: The Six Trolls room is a sequence puzzle — kill them in the order corresponding to which statue glows. Jammal’an + Ogom is a two-tank fight in raids; in 5-mans you can grab both, interrupt Jammal’an’s Mind Blast, kill Ogom first.
  • DPS: Eranikus is a long fight; he summons sleeping nightmare adds. Stay near the tank.
  • Loot: Jammal’an’s Robe (caster), Sang’thraze-equivalent BoEs from trash, Drakestone trinket (caster).

Blackrock Depths (BRD)

  • Level range: 52–60 — Blackrock Mountain. The longest dungeon in the game. Multiple wings.
  • Key bosses: Lord Roccor, Ring of Law (random arena boss), Houndmaster Grebmar, Pyromancer Loregrain, Warder Stilgiss, Fineous Darkvire, Lord Incendius, Bael’gar, General Angerforge, Golem Lord Argelmach, the Vault, Magmus, Emperor Dagran Thaurissan, Princess Moira, plus the Bar event and Arena event.

Has a huge number of side objectives — Shadowforge Key (lockpicking BRD chests), Blackrock Depths Coffer, Jail Break event, Bar quests for items, you can drink at the bar, the works.

  • Tank: Pull the bar carefully — it’s full of patrols and the Hurly Burly event aggros the whole bar if you fight inside. The proper trick: stand at the entrance, start the brawl by talking to Plugger, kill mobs as they run at you. Emperor Thaurissan has Moira as an add who heals him — interrupt her Heals on cooldown or the fight never ends.
  • DPS: Lord Incendius has a Trial AoE that does heavy fire damage. Argelmach spawns golems — switch to Cleave AoE. Magmus fight does floor fire — keep moving.
  • Loot: Ironfoe (Houndmaster Grebmar — rare drop, 1H mace with proc that gives extra attacks; one of the best low-level twink weapons). Plans: Arcanite Reaper (BoE world drop, but also Volcanic and other weapons drop here). Hand of Justice trinket (rare drop, BiS-tier for warriors at 60). Fineous’ Folly 2H staff from Fineous (decent Arms staff).

Lower Blackrock Spire (LBRS)

  • Level range: 55–60 — Blackrock Mountain summit.
  • Bosses: Spirestone Battle Lord, Spirestone Butcher, Spirestone Lord Magus, Highlord Omokk, Shadow Hunter Vosh’gajin, War Master Voone, Mother Smolderweb, Urok Doomhowl, Quartermaster Zigris, Halycon, Gizrul the Slavener, Overlord Wyrmthalak.

Big and long. Lots of two-tank-style packs (you’ll get hit hard) plus rare boss events (Urok summon).

  • Tank: Gizrul the Slavener is a dog mini-boss — single target nuke. Halycon and her pup (Gizrul-style) need cleaving early. Wyrmthalak is the final, with two ogre adds — use Mocking Blow / War Stomp to peel one off the healer.
  • DPS: Voone fight has a pre-event with adds. Mother Smolderweb’s web slows you — Berserker Rage doesn’t break it, just play through it.
  • Loot: Beheading Blade (drop from trash — 2H axe, Arms-viable). Skullsplitter (1H axe), Smolderweb Carrier (caster). Many BoEs sell well.

Dire Maul: East (DM E)

  • Level range: 56–60 — Feralas. The “Pylons” wing.
  • Bosses: Pusillin (chase), Zevrim Thornhoof, Hydrospawn, Lethtendris, Alzzin the Wildshaper.

Pusillin is a long imp chase event you can skip if not doing the optional quest.

  • Tank: Hydrospawn knocks you back via Water Bolt — face him away from cliff edges. Alzzin transforms (worgen → demon) and spawns trees/wolves — sustained AoE.
  • DPS: Lethtendris has succubus that fears — Berserker Rage on use. Bladestorm Alzzin’s tree adds.
  • Loot: Mageflame Cloak (caster), several druid-themed items. The wing is mostly run for the Carrion Grub quest (huntmaster) and books.

Dire Maul: West (DM W)

  • Level range: 58–60.
  • Bosses: Tendris Warpwood, Magister Kalendris, Illyanna Ravenoak, Tsu’zee, Immol’thar, Prince Tortheldrin (final).

The “Books” wing for warlock mount quests, but also home to the Crescent Key quest.

  • Tank: Tendris (treant) hits hard — Shield Block uptime. Immol’thar has 5 channelers around the room maintaining a shield; you must kill them first or break the channels (Earthbinder Tuoquin, etc.). Tortheldrin is a sustained DPS check.
  • DPS: Skull the channelers fast — break shield → AoE the boss. Glyph of Cleaving earns its keep here.
  • Loot: Cloak of Warding (warrior cloak from Tortheldrin — solid leveling cloak), Treant’s Bane (2H sword from Tendris), Headmaster’s Charge (caster, but lore item).

Dire Maul: North (DM N)

  • Level range: 58–60. Hardest of the three wings; tribute run is the optional speed-clear for max loot.
  • Bosses: King Gordok (final). Mini-bosses: Guard Mol’dar, Stomper Kreeg, Cho’Rush the Observer, Captain Kromcrush.

Drops the legendary blue-quality crafting recipes (e.g. Force Reactive Disk plans, Foror’s Compendium of Dragon Slaying for Onyxia attune-equivalent loot).

  • Tank: Kreeg is drunk and will throw beer (snares). Mol’dar at the entrance is the easiest pull; chain them carefully. King Gordok is a tank-and-spank but hits hard — Last Stand at 50%.
  • DPS: Pylon adds in the side rooms can be skipped on a tribute run if you don’t aggro them. Cho’Rush mind-controls — break with a stun or Berserker Rage for fear.
  • Loot: Eye of Burning Shadow trinket (Cho’Rush — caster). Treant’s Bane, Mindtap Talisman (caster trinket). Ogre Tannin for rep, plus crafting recipes.

Stratholme: Live Side (Strat Live / Crusaders)

  • Level range: 58–60 — Eastern Plaguelands. Scarlet Crusade wing.
  • Bosses: Hearthsinger Forresten (rare), Cannon Master Willey, Archivist Galford, Balnazzar, plus the Postmaster event if you collect runes.

Tight, urban, lots of patrols. Can be queued separately from UD side.

  • Tank: Houses with adds inside — when you torch a house, 1-2 elites pour out. Be ready to grab. Balnazzar mind controls — the MC’d player will attack the group, so save a stun. He also fears.
  • DPS: Aggro check on Cannon Master Willey — his guards interrupt; kill them first. On Balnazzar, save Bladestorm for fear immunity.
  • Loot: Postmaster’s Set (4-piece cloth set, caster — skip), Crusader’s Helm (warrior leveling helm), The Postmaster’s Robe (caster, but iconic).

Stratholme: Undead Side (Strat UD / Baron)

  • Level range: 58–60 — Eastern Plaguelands. Baron Rivendare wing. Famous for Baron’s Mount (45-min timed run).
  • Bosses: Baroness Anastari, Maleki the Pallid, Magistrate Barthilas, Nerub’enkan, Stonespine, Ramstein the Gorger, plus Baron Rivendare.

The big draw is Rivendare’s Deathcharger — a rare mount drop (~1% on Baron) — and the 45-min Baron run which gives a unique trinket (Baron’s Sealed Tome, etc.) and Eastern Plaguelands rep.

  • Tank: Anastari possesses a party member — designate who to break it (stun/sap). Maleki silences and ice tombs casters. Ramstein the Gorger before Baron is a sprint check — he summons add waves that can overwhelm if you don’t AoE fast.
  • DPS: Slaughter Square event before Baron — back-to-back add waves. Bladestorm/Sweeping Strikes is gold here. Baron Rivendare unholy auras tick — save a defensive cooldown for sub-30%.
  • Loot: Deathcharger’s Reins (Baron — 1% mount, the reason most warriors farm Strat UD post-60). Crystal Fang (1H dagger, BoE). Plans: Hardened Iron Shortsword (BoP recipe). Black Bow of the Betrayer (Nerub’enkan — bow).

Scholomance (Scholo)

  • Level range: 58–60 — Western Plaguelands. Necromancy school.
  • Bosses: Kirtonos the Herald (summoned), Jandice Barov, Rattlegore, Marduk Blackpool, Vectus, Ras Frostwhisper, Lorekeeper Polkelt, Doctor Theolen Krastinov, Lord Alexei Barov, Darkmaster Gandling, Kormok (rare).

Big maze, multi-level. Lots of casters, undead, cleaving big mobs. Darkmaster Gandling teleports random players into side rooms with adds.

  • Tank: Jandice Barov spawns illusions — only one is real. Watch for the un-targetable ones to disappear. Gandling is the final — he ports a player to a side room where they fight 3 students; the player must survive solo. As tank, you’ll likely be ported too — pop Last Stand and AoE the students.
  • DPS: On Jandice, AoE is fine — illusions die in one hit. On Gandling, when ported, Bladestorm immediately to clear adds + immunity to fear.
  • Loot: Headmaster’s Charge (Gandling — caster staff), Mantle of the Scarlet Crusade (plate shoulders, leveling). Wand of the Ivory Dagger (caster).
